Winemaker Notes: "The Eastwood Raspberry Rosé is a delicious rosé blend made from 90% Merlot and 10% Raspberry, all Virginia grown and harvested by hand. Ripe raspberry flavors are pronounced on the nose with subtle aromas of summer-ripe strawberries and melon. Medium-sweet and medium-bodied, rich flavors of juicy raspberry and delicate flavors of honey characterize the palate. The sweetness is well-balanced by the acidity giving the wine a lush round mouthfeel and a subtle tart finish. Great for picnics, backyard barbecues, and summer days at the beach. Delicious with grilled meats and farmer's market veggies as well as summery salads and pastas."

Wine Folly: pg.131 general Merlot- Wine Folly lists cherry, plum, chocolate, dried herbs, and vanilla as the primary aromas of merlot. This particular wine is a Rose, so many of the aromas are difficult to pick up on. In fact, the only merlot aroma I got from the book was some vanilla.

My Review: The raspberries may only be 10% of this blend, but do not underestimate them! They take control of the aromas of this wine. Since this is a rose, the body of the wine is lighter than what you would anticipate for a standard merlot. This wine is very acidic with a subtle tannins from the merlot in the blend. I love how the Virginia raspberries give it a medium sweetness! I would definitely recommend this wine on a warm summer day!
